Bluewater Motel, Kingscliff

Blaze Projects, in collaboration with interior designer Mr. Jason Grant, revitalized the Bluewater Motel with a fresh coastal aesthetic that blends sophistication with relaxation. The project encompassed the full renovation of seven guest rooms and bathrooms, a welcoming reception area, and a communal kitchen for guests. The scope also included upgrading external balustrades to meet current standards. All joinery was custom-built on-site, featuring handcrafted blackbutt desks, benches, and entry doors. The bathrooms were transformed with terrazzo flooring, full-height feature tiles, ABI fixtures, and Concrete Nation basins. Completed ahead of the peak holiday season, the motel successfully reopened in December 2021, fully operational for Christmas guests.

Feros Arcade, Byron Bay

Blaze Projects undertook a major refurbishment of Feros Arcade, a central retail precinct in Byron Bay, delivering significant upgrades while navigating complex logistical challenges. The scope of work included new shopfront installations, natural stone paving, and a striking timber feature courtyard, all designed to enhance the arcade’s aesthetic and functionality.

One of the biggest challenges of this project was the requirement to keep all tenancies operational during business hours, meaning construction could only take place at night. This created significant logistical hurdles, requiring meticulous planning, efficient overnight work schedules, and strict noise and dust control measures to ensure minimal disruption to businesses and customers.

Despite these constraints, Blaze Projects successfully transformed the space, with the addition of ambient lighting further elevating the arcade’s atmosphere. The project’s quality and execution were recognised by the NSW Master Builders Association with Blaze Projects winning the NSW Northern Region Master Builders Award for Excellence in Commercial extension, renovation and refurbishment.

Alstonville Aquatic Centre, Alstonville

Blaze Projects were engaged to refurbish the Alstonville Aquatic Centre, delivering a modern and accessible facility for the community. The project involved the complete renovation of male, female, and accessible bathrooms, the construction of a new PWD bathroom, and an upgraded kiosk area. Additional enhancements included complete upgrade of the hot water services and installing outdoor shower facilities. The improvements brought the aquatic centre in line with current standards ensuring the facility remains a compliant, welcoming and functional space for locals and visitors alike.

Evolve Health Retreat, Byrrill Creek

Nestled in the scenic hinterland, Blaze Projects rejuvenated a dilapidated guest lodge into the serene Evolve Health Retreat. The refurbishment introduced seven simple yet functional guest rooms with en-suite bathrooms, a tranquil massage and treatment space, and a fully equipped commercial kitchen. Enhancements also included a dedicated yoga studio, an outdoor spa and sauna, a mountain-view timber deck, and a cozy fire pit for guest gatherings. A covered outdoor cooking and dining area complemented by native landscaping completed the transformation, creating an immersive wellness retreat that harmonizes with its natural surroundings.

The project’s remote location in the hinterland presented unique logistical challenges, particularly the lack of mobile phone and internet coverage, making real-time communication between teams and stakeholders difficult. Careful planning and coordination were essential to ensure seamless project execution, with structured scheduling, onsite problem-solving, and alternative communication methods playing a vital role in overcoming these obstacles

Custom timber screens were installed to create a cozy media space, while the upstairs level saw a full upgrade with a new bathroom, ensuite, and fitted wardrobes. The project was completed with lush landscaping and an outdoor kitchen, resulting in a high-end, private retreat in the heart of Byron Bay.
